Ayh Thor Grip Guide: Why It Needs a Grip (and How to Choose Slim, Thick, or Chonk)

Most handheld devices are designed to look sleek on a product page. The problem is that “sleek” usually means flat sides, sharp-ish edges, and not much to actually hold onto. For a short test in your living room, that’s fine. For real sessions—especially anything that involves triggers and steady thumb control—your hands end up doing extra work.

This guide explains why the Ayh Thor benefits from a grip, and how we think about sizing our three versions: Slim, Thick, and Chonk. If you’re ready to grab one, you can order from our Etsy store (USA), or use our international store (outside the USA).

Why the Ayh Thor “needs” a grip (what changes with ergonomics)

When people say a handheld “needs a grip,” they’re usually describing one (or more) of these issues:

  • Finger pinch / edge pressure: flat sides concentrate pressure into a smaller contact area.
  • Trigger fatigue: if your fingers are stretched farther than they want to be, your grip tension goes up.
  • Thumb precision drops over time: as your hands fatigue, fine control gets worse (and your posture gets weird).
  • “White knuckle holding”: people squeeze harder than they should because the device doesn’t feel secure in the hand.

A grip solves this by doing two simple things:

  • Adds shape so your fingers have a consistent place to land.
  • Increases contact area so you don’t have to squeeze as hard to feel stable.

Choosing the right size: Slim vs Thick vs Chonk

We offer three versions because “one size fits all” is how you end up with a grip that’s almost right for everyone and perfect for nobody.

Slim (fits the standard case)

Slim is the choice if you want better ergonomics but still need the device to fit in the standard case. It adds comfort without turning the handheld into a different shape to pack and carry.

  • Best for: portability, travel, “I want something better but I don’t want bulk.”
  • Tradeoff: less palm fill than Thick/Chonk.

Thick (the default for most hands)

Thick is our “most people should start here” size. It’s a nice basic grip that fills the hand enough to reduce squeeze force and make triggers feel more natural, without being extreme.

  • Best for: most adult hands, longer sessions, general comfort.
  • Tradeoff: adds more bulk than Slim.

Chonk (for larger hands)

Chonk is for larger hands or anyone who wants maximum palm fill. If you’ve ever held a handheld and thought “this feels like I’m pinching it,” Chonk is usually the fix.

  • Best for: larger hands, long sessions, people who want the handheld to feel “anchored.”
  • Tradeoff: biggest size; not aimed at fitting the standard case.

A simple fit check (pick in 30 seconds)

  • If you care about fitting the standard case → pick Slim.
  • If you’re not sure → pick Thick.
  • If you have large hands or want maximum comfort → pick Chonk.

Where to buy (USA vs outside the USA)

Right now we’re sending buyers to two places depending on location:

How we make grips consistent (so you don’t get a “good one” and a “bad one”)

Accessories like this need to be consistent: fit, feel, and finish should be repeatable across batches. That’s why we build production parts in a controlled process. JCSFY operates a Large-Scale Production 3D Print Farm with 85+ printers, so we approach even “simple” accessories like a manufacturing job: stable settings, consistent QC, and repeatable output.

If you’re a brand that needs accessories produced at scale (or you want a custom run of a grip or attachment), send details through our project intake form—and if you already have files ready, you can also get an instant quote.
